Happy September!
Imagine sitting on a small cliff, watching the waves crashing against it. As you look out, you see a couple of sea turtles bobbing up and down. They occasionally lift their heads out of the water; otherwise, they float near the top and are tossed around by the unpredictable waves. As you watch them swim, you wonder where they are going and what they might be thinking as they swim in one direction when a large wave comes pushing them in another direction. Do they get upset? Surrender and go with the flow? Do they enjoy where the flow of life is taking them?
Now imagine you are the sea turtle swimming through life. You think you are going in one direction when life steps in and has you face another direction that you weren't planning on. What's your reaction?
The waves of nature are powerful. Some are small waves making little impact on our goals or the direction in which we are headed. We see some waves coming, and we can ride them with ease. Some waves, we can feel the impact before they even get to us, and we know we have no control over them but to harness the surge of strength they bring by surrendering to the new direction we find ourselves facing.
September will be the surge of strength we've needed to find exhilaration in getting us to surrender easily. It will be the mental turning point to know that whatever waves come into our life, we have a choice of being terrified or relaxing with ease, knowing we are being carried to a new experience that life has in store for us.
If you ever find yourself in a rip current, the advice is to avoid panicking and move along parallel with the shore with the flow rather than fighting it. This advice can be applied to life as well. You will save your energy as the current only pulls you away from shore versus underwater. It's best to swim along with the current and use the waves to push you toward shore as you strategically feel into when to start swimming out of the current. If you fight the current and panic, you risk losing energy quickly, where fear can occur. Nature's advice can apply to life's adventures as well.
In either situation, where the waves are coming, or you're in a rip current of life, the advice is the same - surrender.
Surrender can be a loaded word for some as it can be perceived as giving up. But what does it mean to you? What's your relationship with the word surrender?
In theory, surrender is when you are detaching from the outcome. Where you are no longer forcing that a result has to be a certain way. It's when you begin to look at the currents of life and where they could lead you that have the least resistance. It's where surprises and magic can take place that you were least expecting. As you navigate what strength and surrender mean to you this month, look for wisdom, seek to stay in integrity with yourself, and imagine the waves of life as surges of strength versus experiences to be feared. These waves will offer new perspectives and new views that you most likely would not have experienced otherwise.
With another eclipse season starting in September, take these first couple of weeks to reflect on the last eclipse season in March/April and what is coming to completion in your life before the next themes to be unfolded reveal themselves.
Let's look at what the stars have in store for us this month:
On September 2nd, we have a Virgo New Moon. This will be a beautiful time when the wave of energy will support new projects, making lists, getting organized, and moving on your goals quickly. It is an excellent time to implement a new ritual or routine, refine your schedule with better time management to become more efficient, and create space for proper self-care versus scrolling on the phone.
On September 17th, we will begin our second eclipse season of the year. The Pisces Lunar Eclipse, don't be too surprised if you experience heightened emotional sensitivity. This will be a great time to become aware and take action around setting boundaries where you find yourself resentful and strengthening yourself internally with what you need in order to set yourself up for success. This will be a wave of strength that you'll receive to feel inspired and know you are worth having the challenging conversations that will better support you in the long term. You may also glean insights about why the past has played out the way it has. With this understanding, forgiveness of self and of others is finally possible.
Reminder: Neptune Retrograde is still happening this month as well.
